From May 11 to May 15, 2026, the University of Latvia, the Faculty of Education Sciences and Psychology hosted the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) initiative “Promoting Research Opportunities for Building Expertise (PROBE)” which was attended by 15 students and one professor: 4 participants from Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (Czech Republic), 8 participants from St.Cyril and St. Methodius University of Veliko Tarnovo (Bulgaria), 2 participants from the University of Siedlce (Poland) and 2 participants from Kielce University of Technology (Poland).
The group of 15 students from the teacher education international programme of Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (Germany), one professor form Granada University (Spain) and a staff member from Maltepe University (Türkiye) joined this week as well.

The programme included lectures, workshops, poster presentations, research presentations, and discussions on current issues in education. Participants had the opportunity to take part in practical activities, such as the workshop “From Idea to Research Process”, as well as present their university study process and research work in an international academic environment. Every day ended by the reflection circle where the participants shared their findings and takeaways from the collaborative tasks.

In addition to the academic programme, participants also took part in cultural activities, including a guided tour of Old Riga and a visit to Jelgava, where they shadowed teachers of Jelgavas Spīdola State Gymnasium, gaining experience of the Latvian education system in practice, as well as performed and presented the transdisciplinary research in international groups.

BIP participants particularly appreciated the international atmosphere of the event, the opportunity to learn research methodology and try out different presentation styles, work in groups, and the study environment of the Academic Centre of the University of Latvia.
This event is a meaningful internationalization at home event that highlights the significant role of the University of Latvia in international academic cooperation and its contribution to the professional development of future teachers, strengthening a research-based approach in education.
