Mārtiņš Priedols is a social psychologist, lecturer and researcher at the University of Latvia. Martin's research interests include topics such as the perception of information and disinformation, the relationship between the assessment of information and the attitudes, thinking styles and emotions of the individual. For his academic and social achievements, Mārtiņš has received the award of the Latvian Association of Psychologists "Psychologist of the Year 2022" in the nomination "Young Scientist of the Year 2022" and the scholarship of the Tokyo Policy Research Foundation "Sylff Fellowship Programme Award 2023".

Research on various psychological factors in the perception of information, especially in the context of misleading information and disinformation.
Social psychology. Online perception of information (disinformation, misinformation, fake news, propaganda), in particular, assessing the reliability of information and the factors affecting it (thinking errors, confirmation predisposition, motivated reasoning, cognitive dissonance, thinking styles). Pseudoscientific (prophecy, full moon, manifestation) perception of the world. Perception of polarising or topical issues/topics (e.g. conspiracy theories, artificial intelligence, climate change, LGBTQ+) and factors affecting them at the individual and societal levels.
