The Adult Pedagogical Education Center was established in 1993 with the aim of contributing to in-service teacher training in Latvia. It became operational in 1994/95 academic year by admitting the first students and organizing the first continuing education courses. The Center has experience in developing and implementing large ESF projects.
Main activities:
- Development of professional development programs for new teachers, taking into account the state education policy, the needs of employers, teachers and other stakeholders;
- Organization of quality implementation of continuing education courses;
- Providing consultations on the possibilities of improving the professional competence of teachers by attending further education courses;
- Establishment of a cooperation network with educational institutions of various levels and public organizations in Latvia and abroad, which deal with issues of adult pedagogical education and further education.

2020/2021 In the academic year of 2006, the Adult Pedagogical Education Center of the Faculty of Pedagogy, Psychology and Art of the University of Latvia offers paid courses for the improvement of teachers' professional competence. The time and place of the course implementation depends on the completion of the groups, it takes place continuously throughout the study year.
