From September 15 to 17, Professor Indra Odiņa and Assistant Professor Evija Latkovska of the University of Latvia (UL) took part in the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) project “Teaching Internationally” conference, “The Changing Role of Teachers and Teacher Educators from an Inter-National Perspective.”
In their presentation “Bridging Borders: Innovative Pedagogical Practices in Teacher Education – Local Perspectives in a Global Context,” the lecturers highlighted the experience of the faculty of Education Sciences and Psychology (FESP) in implementing the PBSP “Teacher” programme. They shared insights on the organisation, entrance examinations, and final examinations of the programme.
During the conference Brokerage Event, the University of Latvia, FESP, and PBSP “Teacher” programme were promoted to international partners, with an invitation to participate in upcoming academic activities. These include the UL annual international scientific conference, the international student conference, and the week of professors.
The event also provided an opportunity to exchange experiences with colleagues from Germany, Sweden, Poland, Romania, the United Kingdom, and the United States on adapting national teacher education systems to global trends.
The University of Latvia representatives received an invitation to contribute to the project’s next conference, scheduled for March 9–11, 2026, which will focus on attracting and retaining new teachers in the profession.
