From October 7 to October 11, lecturers from the Faculty of Education Sciences and Psychology — Indra Odiņa, Ieva Margeviča-Grinberga, Anna Stavicka, Evija Latkovska, Ligita Grigule, and Simona Semjonova — and representatives from the Latvian Language Agency — Ērika Pičukāne, Indra Lapinska, and Anita Sniedze — hosted colleagues from Estonia (Narva College of the University of Tartu, the Estonian Integration Foundation, Rakvere Rohuaia Preschool), Slovenia (University of Primorska and Koper Adult Education Centre), and Ukraine (National University of Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia National University) as part of the ERASMUS+ KA220-HED project - Cooperation Partnerships in Higher Education "Developing Reading Skills With and Through Digital Technologies" (eREAD), project No KA220-HED-AA3F9CEE. The aim of the project is to promote language learning among immigrants in each country by using digital tools.

During the week-long seminars and visits to educational institutions, discussions focused on the project's progress regarding the content of the developed and piloted university study module and the professional development course for teachers of native language as a foreign language. The guests were introduced to activities that promote the learning of the Latvian language and literacy development through digital tools by visiting the Children's Literature Centre of the National Library, the Ukrainian Support Center "I Want to Help Refugees," Exupery International School, the Jūrmala Department of Education, and the Jūrmala Museum.

The next step for the project partners will be to pilot a technology-based professional development course for native language teachers and to develop an open-access MOOC course for anyone interested in language learning.
